Flintlock Pistol with Gold Inlay and Brass Fittings, 18th/19th Century - Flintlock pistol with a smooth round steel barrel and richly decorated full walnut stock. The barrel features gold damascening and brass inlays. Both sides of the stock are adorned with elaborately crafted brass fittings displaying floral acanthus decoration in relief-like raised execution. The lock is a classic flintlock mechanism with intact cock, frizzen and pan cover. The trigger is functional and fitted with a flint. The engraved lock plate displays fine scrollwork ornaments. The trigger guard is made of brass with an elegantly curved form. The butt cap is likewise of brass, engraved with a star and cross motif. The tip of the ramrod is missing. Minor age-related damage present. Good age-appropriate condition with even patina across all metal parts. The walnut stock displays a beautiful, naturally grown wood grain. 41.5 x 6 cm (L x W). Please view in person. Flintlock pistols of this type were the dominant handheld firearm in Europe and the Ottoman Empire from the 17th through the early 19th century. The flintlock mechanism operates by striking a flint against the steel frizzen, generating sparks that ignite the powder in the pan. The rich brass ornamentation with acanthus and foliate motifs, the gold damascening on the barrel, and the brass inlays point to high-quality craftsmanship — pistols of this kind served not only as weapons but also as status symbols for their owners. The style of the fittings suggests a possible Southeast European or Oriental provenance. German Description Steinschlosspistole mit Goldtauschierung und Messingbeschlägen, 18./19. Jh. Steinschlosspistole mit glattem Rundlauf aus Stahl und reich verziertem Nussbaumvollschaft. Der Lauf ist goldtauschiert und mit Messingeinlagen versehen. Der Schaft zeigt auf beiden Seiten aufwendig gearbeitete Messingbeschläge mit floralem Akanthusdekor in reliefartig erhabener Ausführung. Das Schloss ist als klassisches Steinschloss ausgeführt mit intaktem Hahn, Batterie und Pfanndeckel. Der Abzug ist funktionsfähig mit Feuerstein. Die gravierte Schlossplatte zeigt feine Rankenornamente. Der Abzugsbügel besteht aus Messing mit elegant geschwungener Bügelform. Die Kolbenkappe ist ebenfalls aus Messing mit eingraviertem Stern- bzw. Kreuzdekor ausgeführt. Die Spitze am Ladestock fehlt. Kleinere altersbedingte Beschädigungen vorhanden. Altersgemäß guter Zustand mit gleichmäßiger Patina auf allen Metallteilen. Der Nussbaumschaft zeigt eine schöne, gewachsene Holzmaserung. 41,5 x 6 cm (LxB). Bitte besichtigen. Steinschlosspistolen dieser Art waren vom 17. bis ins frühe 19. Jahrhundert die vorherrschende Handfeuerwaffe in Europa und dem Osmanischen Reich. Das Steinschloss funktioniert durch das Schlagen eines Feuersteins gegen die stählerne Batterie, wodurch Funken erzeugt werden, die das Pulver in der Pfanne entzünden. Die reiche Messingverzierung mit Akanthus- und Blattwerk, die Goldtauschierung am Lauf sowie die Messingeinlagen deuten auf eine gehobene Fertigung hin – solche Pistolen dienten nicht nur als Waffen, sondern auch als Statussymbole ihrer Besitzer. Der Stil der Beschläge weist auf eine mögliche südosteuropäische oder orientalische Provenienz hin.
