Comprehensive Album of Emergency Money and High-Denomination Banknotes from the German Hyperinflation 1922-1923 - Historical document of German economic history in the form of an old collector's album, filled with regional banknotes from the Weimar Republic era. The album contains approximately 110 so-called high-denomination notes (Großgeldscheine) from the hyperinflation period (mostly 1923), including million and billion mark denominations from cities and districts such as Düsseldorf, Cologne, Aachen, Essen, Stormarn, and many others. The collection is complemented by about 50 small-format series notes (city emergency money / Städtenotgeld) in the Pfennig and low Mark range, featuring local historical and often highly artistic motifs, such as those from Archsum on Sylt, Bad Oeynhausen, or Goslar. The condition of the notes varies, commensurate with age, from circulated with typical fold lines to almost uncirculated. The album itself shows clear signs of use and storage wear. Collections of emergency and inflation money are fascinating contemporary witnesses to the extreme hyperinflation of 1923. When the Reichsbank's printing presses could no longer meet the demand for currency, cities, municipalities, and companies issued their own substitute money. Das Album beinhaltet circa 110 sogenannte Großgeldscheine aus der Zeit der Hochinflation (meist 1923), darunter Nominale in Millionen- und Milliardenhöhe aus Städten und Landkreisen wie Düsseldorf, Köln, Aachen, Essen, Stormarn und vielen weiteren. Ergänzt wird die Sammlung durch etwa 50 kleinformatige Serienscheine (Städtenotgeld) im Pfennig- und niedrigen Markbereich mit lokalhistorischen und oft kunstvollen Motiven, wie beispielsweise aus Archsum auf Sylt, Bad Oeynhausen oder Goslar. Der Erhaltungszustand der Scheine variiert altersgemäß von gebraucht mit typischen Faltspuren bis hin zu fast bankfrisch. Das Album selbst zeigt deutliche Gebrauchs- und Lagerspuren. Sammlungen von Not- und Inflationsgeld sind faszinierende Zeitzeugnisse der extremen Hyperinflation des Jahres 1923. Da die Druckpressen der Reichsbank den Geldbedarf nicht mehr decken konnten, gaben Städte, Gemeinden und Unternehmen eigenes Ersatzgeld aus.
