Student Glass Stein, Landsmannschaft Cheruscia Berlin, Enamel Painting, Dedication - Cylindrical stein made of colorless glass with a solid pewter lid and direct enamel painting on the body. The frontal, polychrome painting displays the full coat of arms of the Landsmannschaft Cheruscia Berlin. The quartered shield presents in the upper left the Zirkel, in the upper right the handshake of loyalty emerging from clouds on a blue ground, in the lower left the Hermannsdenkmal on a green ground, and in the lower right crossed basket-hilt swords within a laurel wreath with the founding date ”12. 1. 1859”. Superimposed in the center is the inescutcheon featuring the Berlin Bear. Above the coat of arms is a jousting helmet with green-silver and blue-silver mantling as well as the tri-colored crest (Green-White-Blue). The mottoes ”Cheruscia sei’s Panier!” and ”Virtuti semper corona!” frame the motif. The pewter lid is decorated with a profiled beaded rim and bears the large, engraved Zirkel of Cheruscia Berlin on the flat top. The engraved dedication runs around the rim: ”Cuno Mimus Z! (xxx) x s./l. Lbb. (to his dear Leibbursche) Erich Wernicke Z! (xxx, xxx) F. M?..21”. The base of the stein features a star cut. On the side of the upper rim is the calibration mark ”0.4 l”. Good condition commensurate with age; the pewter lid is corroded on the right side and the engraving is no longer legible there. 15x9 cm (HxD) In contrast to steins with porcelain lids, the direct glass painting takes center stage here. The Landsmannschaft Cheruscia Berlin (colors: Green-Silver-Light Blue) cultivated the Leib relationship intensively, as shown by the dedication. The donor Cuno Mimus, who held the charges of Secretary (xxx) and Senior (x), gifted this stein to his Leibbursche (mentor) Erich Wernicke, who also served as Secretary (xxx) of the fraternity. German Description Studentischer Glaskrug der Landsmannschaft Cheruscia Berlin, Emailmalerei mit Widmung Zylindrischer Walzenkrug aus farblosem Glas mit massivem Zinndeckel und direkter Emailbemalung auf der Wandung. Die frontseitige, polychrome Malerei zeigt das Vollwappen der Landsmannschaft Cheruscia zu Berlin. Der geviertelte Schild präsentiert oben links den Zirkel, oben rechts den Treuehandschlag aus Wolken auf blauem Grund, unten links das Hermannsdenkmal auf grünem Grund und unten rechts gekreuzte Korbschläger im Lorbeerkranz mit dem Gründungsdatum „12. 1. 1859“. Mittig aufgelegt ist der Herzschild mit dem Berliner Bären. Über dem Wappen befindet sich ein Stechhelm mit grün-silbernen und blau-silbernen Helmdecken sowie der dreifarbigen Helmzier (Grün-Weiß-Blau). Die Wahlsprüche „Cheruscia sei’s Panier!“ und „Virtuti semper corona!“ rahmen das Motiv. Der Zinndeckel ist mit einem profilierten Perlrand verziert und trägt auf der flachen Oberseite den großen, gravierten Zirkel der Cheruscia Berlin. Umlaufend auf dem Rand findet sich die gravierte Widmung: „Cuno Mimus Z! (xxx) x s./l. Lbb. (seinem lieben Leibburschen) Erich Wernicke Z! (xxx, xxx) F. M?..21“. Der Boden des Kruges ist mit einem Sternschliff versehen. Seitlich am oberen Rand befindet sich der Eichstrich „0,4 l“. Der Zustand ist altersgemäß gut, der Zinndeckel ist an der rechten Seite korrodiert und die Gravur nicht mehr lesbar. 15x9 cm (HxD) Im Gegensatz zu den Porzellandeckelkrügen steht hier die direkte Glasmalerei im Vordergrund. Die Landsmannschaft Cheruscia Berlin (Farben: Grün-Silber-Hellblau) pflegte, wie die Widmung zeigt, das Leibverhältnis intensiv. Der Stifter Cuno Mimus, der die Chargen des Schriftwarts (xxx) und Seniors (x) innehatte, schenkte diesen Krug seinem Leibburschen (Mentor) Erich Wernicke, der ebenfalls als Schriftwart (xxx) der Verbindung diente.
