Two Fine Baluch Nomadic Bags, Chanteh & Salt Bag, Iran / Afghanistan Border Region, Mid-20th century - Lot consisting of two traditional, handmade nomadic bags of the Baluch 1) Square bag (Chanteh) with a dark blue ground, light geometric patterns, and on the edges an elaborate trim of long, partly colorfully wrapped wool tassels with shells and glass beads 2) Salt bag (Namakdan) in a bottleneck shape, woven with geometric cassette and S-motifs in warm brown, blue, and red tones, with a fringed end at the bottom, age-appropriate, used condition, visible signs of wear, partly slightly frayed, top loop on the Chanteh torn and frayed, Chanteh 37 x 40 cm (HxW), salt bag 64 x 43 cm (HxW) Such artfully handmade pieces served the Baluch nomads as practical transport bags for salt or personal belongings as well as decorative tent furnishings. Konvolut bestehend aus zwei traditionellen, handgefertigten Nomadentaschen der Belutsch 1) Quadratische Tasche (Chanteh) mit dunkelblauem Grund, hellen geometrischen Mustern und an den Kanten mit einem aufwendigen Besatz aus langen, teils bunt umwickelten Wollquasten mit Muscheln und Glasperlen 2) Salzsack (Namakdan) in Flaschenhalsform, gewebt mit geometrischen Kassetten- und S-Motiven in warmen Braun-, Blau- und Rottönen, unten mit Fransenabschluss, altersgemäßer, gebrauchter Zustand, sichtbare Tragespuren, teils leicht ausgefranst, obere Schlaufe am Chanteh gerissen und ausgefranst, Chanthe 37 x 40 cm (HxB), Salzsack 64 x 43 cm (HxB) Solche kunstvoll handgefertigten Stücke dienten den Belutsch-Nomaden als praktische Transporttaschen für Salz oder persönliche Habseligkeiten sowie als dekorative Zeltausstattung. Sie sind authentische Zeugnisse der textilen Volkskunst.
