Height with handle 9.7 cm - A rare example of Soviet decorative and applied art of the post-war period is a tombac glass holder decorated with cloisonné enamel in three colors: deep blue, milky white and black. The main decorative motif is stylized tulips, forming a clear rhythm along the body. The geometric grid with enamel inserts is made using the cloisonné enamel technique: each section is separated by thin metal partitions, which gives the pattern clarity and picturesqueness. The surface is gilded, including the handle, designed as a bracket with black accents. Such glass holders were produced at Leningrad jewelry or art factories in the 1950s, during the period when the traditions of artistic crafts, including work with hot enamel, were revived in the USSR. Tombac (a copper-zinc alloy with a high copper content) ensured the strength and plasticity of the form, and gilding gave the product a noble appearance. The use of cloisonné enamel, despite its labor intensity, indicates an artistic approach to a mass-produced decorative item. Decorative enamel cup holders from the 1950s and 1960s are rare and sought-after collectibles today. Traces of use correspond to the age of the item.
