Evgeny Nikolaevich Korzh (born 1940) is a distinguished Russian painter, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, and a member of the Primorye branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. A painter of landscapes and portraits, Korzh was also a participant in the renowned Shikotan Group, which united artists from Moscow, Vladivostok, and Ussuriysk. The group became one of the most significant artistic phenomena of the Russian Far East in the second half of the twentieth century, celebrated for its depictions of the Kuril Islands and the Pacific frontier. The works created by the Shikotan artists are often marked by a sense of monumentality and restraint, conveying the rugged power and grandeur of Far Eastern nature. While Korzh contributed significantly to this artistic tradition, his creative range extends far beyond it. Over the course of his career, he has produced a remarkable body of landscapes and portraits distinguished by their vivid colour, atmospheric sensitivity, and keen observation.
