Born on 4 January 1955 in Vladivostok, Simakov developed an interest in painting at an early age. In 1982, he graduated from the Vladivostok Art College, where he received his formal artistic training. Alongside his creative practice, he led a studio for emerging artists and was an active member of the artistic associations “Shtil” and “Vladivostok, ” both of which played an important role in the cultural life of the Russian Far East during the late Soviet and post-Soviet periods. Simakov became a member of the International Federation of Professional Artists affiliated with UNESCO, further expanding his international artistic presence. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous youth, municipal, regional, travelling, and solo exhibitions, as well as international exhibitions held in the United States, Japan, France, Austria, Ukraine, China, Vietnam, and South Korea. His works are represented in private collections throughout Russia and internationally, including collections in the United States, Poland, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, Norway, and France. Simakov’s art reflects the diversity of contemporary Russian painting, combining expressive imagery with a distinctive personal vision. His works often reveal a poetic interpretation of reality, where imagination and observation merge into compelling visual narratives.
