Dimensions (framed): 60 × 60 cm. Evgeny Gennadyevich Lapo (born 1967) is a Russian architect, ceramic artist, and practitioner of decorative and applied arts. A member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 2011, he is recognized for his distinctive synthesis of architecture, ceramics, and contemporary decorative art. Lapo graduated from the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute with a specialization in Artistic Ceramics. In addition to his artistic practice, he teaches Fundamentals of Artistic Processing Technologies at the Far Eastern State University and serves as director of the International Summer School of Artistic Ceramics. Since 1995, he has participated in numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. His work is distinguished by a deep understanding of ceramic materials and traditional craft techniques, which he combines with contemporary artistic concepts and narrative imagery. His works are represented in the collection of the Primorye State Art Gallery and in private collections in Russia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the United States. Old Friends belongs to a series created as part of the artistic design programme for the renowned Supra Restaurant. Drawing upon themes of hospitality, memory, and cultural tradition, the work demonstrates Lapo’s ability to integrate fine art and decorative design into a cohesive visual statement. Through the use of underglaze painting on chamotte ceramic tiles and the tactile qualities of treated wood, the artist creates a richly textured composition that reflects both the warmth of human relationships and the enduring value of shared cultural experience.
