Evgeny Gennadyevich Lapo (born 1967) is a Russian architect, ceramic artist, and practitioner of decorative and applied arts. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 2011. Lapo graduated from the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute, specializing in Artistic Ceramics. Alongside his artistic practice, he teaches Fundamentals of Artistic Processing Technologies at the Far Eastern State University and serves as director of the International Summer School of Artistic Ceramics. Since 1995, he has participated in numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. His work is characterized by a profound understanding of ceramic materials, traditional firing techniques, and the expressive possibilities of decorative art. Combining technical mastery with a contemporary artistic vision, he creates works that explore themes of nature, spirituality, cultural memory, and personal experience. His works are represented in the collection of the Primorye State Art Gallery and in private collections in Russia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the United States. In To the Summit, Lapo employs the expressive qualities of chamotte clay, underglaze decoration, and salt-firing effects to create a work that is both sculptural and painterly. The circular format of the ceramic platter reinforces the symbolic character of the composition, while the title evokes themes of aspiration, perseverance, and spiritual ascent. Through the synthesis of material, image, and craftsmanship, the artist transforms a functional ceramic form into a contemplative artistic object.
