Shot Maharshadam, Even Ha’ezer first edition—Salonika 1594 - Glosses by Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Berliner - Signed by his son Rabbi Shlomo Hirschel - Shot Maharshadam, Even Ha’ezer first edition—Salonika 1594 - Glosses by Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Berliner - Signed by his son Rabbi Shlomo Hirschel  contains the signature of Solomon Hirschel on front-free end paper. Responsa no.2 (p. 4a) contains a lengthy marginal note by Tzvi Hirsch Berlin with his initials.  Vol II (Even Ha’ezer): ff. 16, 204. Lightly dampstained, last few leaves repaired with few words provided in manuscript, inscription on front-free endpaper. Later blind-ruled tan mottled-calf, rubbed, rebacked. Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Berliner (1721-1800) was one of the greatest German Rabbis of his time, a son of Rabbi Aryeh Leib, Av Beis of Amsterdam; grandson of the Chacham Tzvi; and brother of Rabbi Shaul of Amsterdam. Throughout his life, Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Berliner served as Rav in the cities as London, Manheim, Halberstadt and Berlin, and waged a fierce battle against the Maskilim during the early period of the Enlightenment. His written legacy includes Tzva Rav and Tzvi Latzaddik. Rabbi Shlomo Hirschel, was a son of the famous Rabbi Hirsch Berlin , Rabbi of London and Berlin - a grandson of the Chacham Tzvi and descendant of the famous Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel of Krakow. In addition to his great rabbinical ancestry, he was highly regarded by the leading rabbis of his generation, with whom he was in correspondence, and was a mechutan of Rabbi Akiva Eger. He had served as Rabbi of Prenzlau, Prussia, before being appointed to succeed Rabbi David Tevelle Schiff as Chief Rabbi in London, a position he held for forty years.
