Dudina Irina. "Artificial is cheaper than natural", 2011, quilt, 134x89 cm.
Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Leningrad State University (1982). She worked as a journalist in the leading Leningrad-Petersburg publications. Founder and editor-in-chief of the proletarian magazine Bolt. In 2008 she was admitted to the Union of Artists of St. Petersburg. Took part in more than 40 exhibitions in Russia and Europe.
“These are collages made of fabric, reminiscent of folk prints, American quilts, Russian peasant rugs made of rags, Soviet postcards, panels by Timur Novikov and Olga Florenskaya, ROSTA windows, the avant-garde of the 1920s. But in general, in our times of remakes and neo-styles, in the age of tired postmodernism, when everything has already happened and everything is breathing on the heels of some established genius and trend, “political rugs” give the impression of fresh innovation ”(Yuri Yekimov).
