(People's Artist of the Russian Federation) Albert Charkin. "Chkalov", 1997, H -27 cm, sculpture, bronze, well preserved, published many times, installed near the metro station "Chkalovskaya" (St. Petersburg).
Albert Charkin (1937-2017). People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1997). From 2001 to 2010, the sculptor headed the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I. E. Repina.
The monument to the Hero of the Soviet Valery Pavlovich Chkalov (1904-1938) was developed as part of the architectural project of the Chkalovskaya metro station, where it was installed in 1997.
A similar bust was cast at the "Monumentskulptura" factory and presented by the Government of Russia to the Government of the United States in memory of the flight of the crew of the ANT-25 aircraft consisting of Valery Chkalov, Georgy Baidukov and Alexander Belyakov from the USSR to America via the North Pole in June 1937. Installed in Vancouver (USA).
