Peter Shapiro (1933, Moscow). The son of Yefim Shapiro, the inventor of the most famous Soviet perfume Krasnaya Moskva.

The creative life of the sculptor P. Shapiro began in 1953 by participating in two All-Union art exhibitions with sculptures by Leo Tolstoy and Ludwig van Beethoven. The Leninist theme could not but be present in the work of the Soviet master at that time, and in the Soviet years, the sculpture of Lenin in marble, made by P. Shapiro, was installed in the hall of the Vnukovo airport. Many party leaders and politicians of the USSR and the countries of the socialist camp are immortalized by the master in plaster, stone or bronze: L.I. Eremenko, S. Rudenko and B.P. Bugaev, Minister N.S. Patolichev, Academician P.N. Pospelov, Academician V.Kh. Vasilenko, A. Karpov, figure skater I. Rodnina, cosmonaut V. Lebedev, poets P Antakolsky and A. Voznesensky, Venko Markovsky, writers A. Chakovsky, E. Permyak, Joseph North, artist Ilya Glazunov, composers A. Novikov and D. Shostakovich, pianist Van Cliburn, opera singer I. S. Kozlovsky, film director R. Carmen, actress G. Sergeeva, actor I. Pereverzev.
During the years of Perestroika, the sculptor was lucky to meet and work on the images of political figures and leaders of overseas countries and European countries. A large section in the work of the sculptor Shapiro is occupied by the "Icelandic theme". In Reykjavik, there is a whole gallery of portrait sculptures made by the master, among whom is Haldor Laksnes, a writer and Nobel Prize winner. The Greek Museum of Thessaloniki acquired his amazing work - a portrait of a Russian woman Angela, seeing the motifs of Ancient Hellas in her sculptural image.
Since 1993 lives in the USA. In the United States, he created portraits of leaders and prominent political and public figures of the United States: Al Gore, Robert McNamara, Connie Morella, John Proctor, Carter Brown, James Billington, Du Pont ... and many others.
