One of the greatest masters of Leningrad landscape painting of the second half of the 20th century.         Hi s works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in museums and private collections around the world. Before being drafted into the army (1939), he studied at Eberling's studio, where he met famous St. Petersburg artists A.P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva, E.S. Kruglikova, A.A. Rylov, V.I. Shukhaev, B.A. Vogel, sculptor I.Ya. Gunzburg.          At LIZhSA he studied with M. D. Bernstein, A. D. Zaitsev, G. V. Pavlovsky, S. L. Abugov, G. A. Savinov. In 1950 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of B.V. Ioganson with the title of artist of painting. Graduation work - the painting ”Spring on the collective farm” (Museum of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg). In the same year he was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists.
