A Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma Cobalt Blue Figural Vase - A Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma cobalt blue figural vase, presenting a globular body with a narrow neck, flared rim, and a small foot. The vase features a deep cobalt blue glaze on the neck and foot, detailed with gilded patterns. The main body has a cream-colored crackle glaze ground, decorated with polychrome scenes in a traditional Japanese style. One side depicts female figures, possibly geisha, in an outdoor setting with flowering wisteria and a distant mountain. The reverse shows male figures seated under an autumn-foliage tree. The base exhibits a handwritten ”R” mark, a circular cartouche containing the Japanese characters 薩摩 (Satsuma) and 十二 (Ju-ni, meaning 'twelve'), and the numeral '12', all in black ink.
