This lot comprises a pair of glazed ceramic elephant pedestals, each depicting a white elephant elaborately decorated with trappings and blankets in a palette of dark green, brown/gold, dark blue, and light blue glazes, featuring stylized floral, foliate, and geometric patterns. Each elephant supports a square platform on its back, which is adorned with a central circular motif enclosing the Chinese character ”?” (Shou), meaning ”longevity” or ”long life, ” surrounded by scrolling designs. The undersides of the pieces are unglazed, with one foot bearing incised markings ”Kuei” and ”73”. Height: Approximately 10.5 inches (26.7 cm)
