Bidspirit auction | A British Army 105mm L35A1

A British Army 105mm L35A1 ammunition box, dating from March 1971 and associated with the Gulf War era. This rectangular, military-style metal storage crate is finished in a drab olive/brown paint. It features a hinged lid secured by two metal latches and two wire-form carrying handles on the short sides. Visible markings include ”105 FD NOR”, ”2 CART FD L35A1”, ”N. 017”, ”N/S 123 - 043”, ”N/S 164 - 048”, ”107A”, ”105 NORMAL IN CRTS”, and ”GD 3 - 71 PRIM L10AI”, indicating its designation for 105 Field Normal cartridges, specifically L35A1 rounds, and a manufacturing date of March 1971 for the primer. The interior is painted similarly to the exterior, with a red fabric/felt lining along the inner sides and four rectangular indentations on the base, also lined with red felt, suggesting compartmentalized storage for ammunition. The box has been modified with the addition of four small swiveling casters on the base. Length: 67 cm
