Bidspirit auction | Antique Tuareg Allar Spear. Made
Antique Tuareg Allar Spear. Made from one piece of iron. This is a traditional Saharan Stabbing Lance/spear. Entirely forged from a single rod of iron. Used by The Tuareg People of the Central Sahara, spanning modern day Algeria, Mali, Niger and Libya. This was not a common tool. It was a prestige weapon reserved for the noble warrior class. (Imouhar). Owning an all iron spear was significant symbol of wealth and rank. It was primarily a stabbing weapon used in warfare and for defence against large predators. The visible hammer marks and the darkened patina (oxidation) on the metal suggests this is an authentic ethnographic antique likely from the late 19th century or early 20th century.
