This lot comprises two English character-themed ceramic items produced in the Staffordshire tradition. The first item is a Tony Wood glazed earthenware Toby teapot, modelled as a seated man in eighteenth-century attire holding a foaming tankard and a clay pipe. The figure is decorated with hand-painted polychrome glazes, including a burgundy frock coat, yellow waistcoat, and green breeches. The base is incised with H M WOOD, ENGLAND, and TOBY, and includes hand-painted marks AE and 4405. The second item is a Collingham Pottery character jug, modelled as a seated soldier in uniform. It is decorated with hand-painted red, black, and white glazes. The base features a circular printed mark for COLLINGHAM POTTERY, STAFFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND, HANDPAINTED, along with an incised SOLDIER mark and a printed number 85.
