A turned wooden bowl by Doug Stone, crafted from Tasmanian Blackheart Sassafras. The piece features a shallow, flared form with a rounded rim and a low-profile foot. The timber displays characteristic light-coloured sapwood alongside dramatic, irregular dark fungal streaking, known as blackheart, and a small natural knot to one side. The surface has a smooth, polished finish. The underside of the base bears handwritten inscriptions in black ink reading Blackheart Sassafras at the top, a signature for Doug Stone in the centre, and Tasmania at the bottom.
