A large pedestal compote and an assortment of decorative fruit clusters. The compote is carved from translucent brownish-tan alabaster, featuring a shallow bowl with a wide openwork rim. The rim is intricately carved with scrolling vine leaves and pendant grape clusters. The central pedestal is supported by three swans with arched necks, resting upon a circular base decorated with acanthus leaf motifs. The accompanying collection of fruit clusters is carved from various hardstones and semi-precious minerals, including jadeite, rose quartz, and carnelian-toned agate. Each cluster is constructed with individually carved stone elements attached to wire armatures, with stems and leaves typically wrapped in green or brown silk thread.
