An antique table oil lamp featuring a moulded glass reservoir with a pale amber tint. The font is decorated with a distinctive overlapping shell or petal pattern. It is fitted with a metal burner, likely brass, which includes a circular gallery and a horizontal wick adjustment mechanism. The tall, slender clear glass chimney is of the Kosmos style. The wick-adjustment knob is stamped with a circular mark featuring the letters B & S at the top and a shield-shaped British Registered Design motif in the centre, containing the letters RD and numerical markings including the digit 3.
