Bidspirit auction | A sterling silver-mounted cut glass

A sterling silver-mounted cut glass salt cellar in the form of a swan. The piece features a boat-shaped clear glass body with a starburst pattern cut into the base. The silver elements consist of a detailed neck and head and two articulated, open-work wings. The wings are decorated with pierced foliate scrollwork and a central rose motif, and they pivot upwards to reveal the glass basin. The silver mounts are stamped with the mark EL in a rectangular cartouche, alongside London Assay Office hallmarks including a lion passant and a date letter n. A separate 925 mark is also present.
