Bidspirit auction | A pair of Victorian graduated

A pair of Victorian graduated earthenware pitchers in the Jackfield style, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. Each vessel is constructed from a reddish-brown earthenware body and finished with a high-gloss, deep black glaze. The pitchers feature a faceted, octagonal form with high, angular handles terminating in a spur-form thumb rest. The exterior is decorated with hand-painted floral sprays executed in white and grey enamels, further accented with bronze-toned foliage. The undersides are unmarked by a manufacturer but display three circular kiln stilt marks. The smaller pitcher has a single small incised cross mark to the base. A/F slight cuip on one of the pitchers.
