Bidspirit auction | A pair of antique hickory

A pair of antique hickory shafted wooden golf clubs produced by Tom Auchterlonie in St Andrews, Scotland. The clubheads are constructed from dark stained wood and feature scored striking faces and lead backweights. The crowns of both clubs bear the impressed maker mark T AUCHTERLONIE ST ANDREWS, with one club additionally marked SPECIAL. The clubs are fitted with tapered hickory shafts. The grips are finished with leather wraps; one club features a black leather wrap while the other has a brown suede finish leather wrap. Both clubs are joined at the neck with thread whipping.
