Manuscript by Rabbi Ya'akov Yisrael Knievsky the ”Steipler” – Letters Supporting God's Worship and the Study of the Torah - 5 leaves handwritten by Rabbi Ya'akov Yisrael Knievsky - the ”Steipler”. Leaves containing words of Mussar about God-s worship and the study of the Torah. Autograph! * First letter: the Steipler introduces the words of the Mishnah in Avot ”Dah Mah L'Malah Mimcha …” (Know what is above you, a seeing eye, a hearing ear and all your deeds are written in the book”. Among others, he writes ”It should be remembered that the world is not abandoned since any misdeed will have to answer to God and the punishments are hard and bitter … no sin or transgression is forgotten”. (The letter was printed with textual variations in Karyana D'Igarta p. 7, Bnei Berak, 1986). * An additional leaf, part of an article about retribution (printed in his book Birkat Peretz Parashat Vaetchanan, Bnei Berak, 1979). * Three additional leaves: an article about the study of the Torah. Among others, he writes ”the rule that this thing that Torah be studied from sorrow and insanity and stress etc. is most necessary … and for every sorrow he will merit double retribution…” In two of the leaves, the content is similar with textual variations, indicating how much effort the Steipler put in his writings, in order to produce something perfect. Originally, the article is of three pages. Before us are the two last ones. (Printed with lingual variations in Birkat Peretz Parashat Kih Tissah). 5 leaves. 6 written pages. The letters contain erasures and corrections done by the Steipler. The printed versions have many lingual variations; thus, the leaves before us were presumably the initial version. 14x19cm.
