Bidspirit auction | A Group of Seven Scottish
A Group of Seven Scottish Taxidermy Grouse Foot Brooches and Animal Tooth Ornaments - A group of seven items comprising taxidermy bird feet and animal teeth fashioned into jewelry and decorative objects. The lot includes four taxidermy bird feet from the grouse family (Tetraonidae), such as red grouse or ptarmigan. Each foot is mounted with a metal cap at the proximal end. One specimen features a white metal cap with an ornamental wreath depicting thistle motifs. One specimen includes a safety-pin style fastener on the reverse, identifying it as a kilt pin or brooch. The specimens vary in feather color from mottled brown to white. The lot also contains a single curved animal tooth or tusk mounted with a metal cap and attached via a link chain to a large, curved metal hook featuring a cross-like decorative element. Two loose animal teeth are included: one smaller, polished canine tooth and one larger tooth with a dark, textured material at the base. Small stamped marks are visible on the metal caps of the bird foot pins but are not legible.
