Doug Cumming "Chris" Nude Portrait Painting
Douglas Cumming (American, 20th/21st c). Large oil on linen canvas painting titled "Chris, " from the "Sannes Photos" series depicting a young nude woman against a deep blue background looking arrestingly towards the viewer, 1971. Signed and dated along the verso. With a paper label affixed along the stretcher. After retiring from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Douglas Cumming, a former Professor of Art, moved to Germany where he now lives and works.
Unframed; height: 70 in x width: 50 in. Framed; height: 70 3/4 in x width: 51 in.
Condition: The painting is in great condition with no visible tears, creases, or losses. The surface is stable, and the color is bold and bright. There is a minute accretion to the center of the right margin. There is a minute paint mark to the center of the painting, most likely original. There are two minute brown paints to the left shoulder, most likely original. When inspected under UV light, there is no visible sign of restoration. Light wear to the frame.
