Orval Dillingham AbEx Mixed Media Painting 1950
Orval Dillingham (American, 1920-2007). Mixed media on paper painting depicting an abstract expressionist composition in bright yellows and reds, 1950. Initialed and dated along the lower right.
Dillingham received his BA and MFA from the University of Minnesota as well as an Art degree from the Minneapolis School of Art. He later taught at his alma maters as well as St. Cloud State University before becoming an Art Professor at California State University, Long Beach.
Sight; height: 5 in x width: 6 1/2 in. Framed; height: 14 1/4 in x width: 17 1/4 in x depth: 1 in.
Condition: The colors are bold and bright. There are areas along the extreme edges and throughout the white fields where there are possible paint losses to the top layer of paint (the white paint); however, this may be part of the artistic process and it is difficult to discern. Light wear along the deckled edges. The work is floated in frame. It is attached to a non-acidic mat. Framed under glass; not inspected out of frame. Light wear to the frame.
