Harold Matthews Brett Oil Painting 1909 - Harold Matthews Brett (American, 1880-1955). Oil on canvas painting depicting a group of men, 1909. Signed and dated along the lower left. Illegible inscription along the verso. Unframed; height: 24 in x width: 36 in. Framed; height: 29 1/2 in x width: 41 1/2 in x depth: 2 3/4 in. Condition: The colors are bold and deep. There are no major tears or signs of restoration when viewed under UV light. There are two small losses along the upper right, one measuring approximately 1 1/2 in and the sencond measuring approximately 1 in. There are a few small scuffs along the upper center. Along the extreme edges of the canvas along the verso there is flaking to the paint. Wear along the edges of the canvas under the rabbat; there may be some tears or wear underneath the rabbat that cannot be seen. Light wear to the frame including dust gathered along the recessed areas.
