Francis Shedd Frost Musicians Painting - Francis Seth (Shedd) Frost (American, 1825-1902). Oil on canvas painting depicting a woman playing music with a companion. Signed along the upper right. Sight; height: 19 1/2 in x width: 15 1/4 in. Framed; height: 27 1/4 in x width: 23 in x depth: 2 1/2 in. Condition: The colors are slightly faded and the painting is toned. There are no major visible losses; however, there is craquelure throughout. Signs of restoration along the left edge of the painting, where the contours of the craquelure fluoresce under UV light. Some scuffs and dark accretions throughout, primarily to the immediate right of the woman's face, the right center edge, and along the extreme edges of the painting. Light wear to the verso. Wear to the frame, including chips, scuffs, and losses to the gilt along the extreme edges of the frame. Dust gathered along the recessed crevices of the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
