Clement Haupers Dionysus Oil Painting - Clement Bernard Haupers (American, 1900-1982). Oil on board painting depicting a mythical depiction of Dionysian delights. Signed along the lower left. Clement Bernard Haupers was a St. Paul born American painter, printmaker, arts administrator, and arts educator active from the 1920s to the 1980s. He is best known for his directorship of the Minnesota Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project and for his influence in the Minnesota art community. Unframed; height: 35 3/4 in x width: 53 3/4 in. Framed; height: 38 1/2 in x width: 56 1/2 in x depth: 1 in. Condition: The colors are bold and deep. There are some signs of inpainting throughout that fluoresce under UV light. There are two intersecting scratches along the lower right. Some small scuffs throughout, primarily along the lower left and lower right quadrant. Housed within a wooden frame, not under glass or plexiglass. Some wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame. Light soiling to the verso.
