Peter Lund North Shore MN Painting 1880s-90s - Peter F. Lund (American, 1846-1898). Oil on board painting depicting a seascape of the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota, ca. 1880s-1890s. Dark clouds loom and waves crash against the rocks signaling the approach of a storm. Signed along the lower right. The Tweed Museum in Duluth, Minnesota holds a large collection of Lund's works. Unframed; height: 11 in x width: 17 in. Framed; height: 16 1/2 in x width: 22 1/2 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: The painting has been restored. The varnish is toned and there is craquelure throughout. Some wear along the extreme edges of the work, particularly the lower left where there is a large chip. Some soiling to the verso. Some wear along the extreme edges of the canvas. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
