Pr Breuer for Gavina & Stendig MCM Wassily Chairs - Marcel Breuer (Hungarian, 1902-1981) for Gavina SpA, Italy. Pair of mid-century modern ”Wassily” model lounge or armchairs, first designed in 1925. The chairs are composed of black leather with a welded, tubular chromed steel frame. With Stendig labels along the underside of each seat. The chair was first designed by Breuer in 1925. During 1960, Gavina SpA, a luxury furniture company founded by Dino Gavina (Italian, 1922-2007) and Charles Stendig (American, 1924-2024), acquired distribution rights to Breuer's ”Wassily” design. In 1968, Knoll acquired Gavina and thus, the rights to the chair design, which they are famously associated with today. Each, height: 29 in x width: 30 1/2 in x depth: 26 in. Condition: There are no major breaks, losses, or repairs. Some scuffs and wear to the metal, especially along touch points and the undersides of the legs. Some small spots of patination along the chrome.
