Pr Breuer for Gavina & Stendig MCM Wassily Chairs - Marcel Breuer (Hungarian, 1902-1981) for Gavina SpA, Italy. Pair of mid-century modern ”Wassily” model lounge or armchairs, first designed in 1925. The chairs are composed of black leather with a welded, tubular chromed steel frame. With Stendig labels along the underside of each seat. The chair was first designed by Breuer in 1925. During 1960, Gavina SpA, a luxury furniture company founded by Dino Gavina (Italian, 1922-2007) and Charles Stendig (American, 1924-2024), acquired distribution rights to Breuer's ”Wassily” design. In 1968, Knoll acquired Gavina and thus, the rights to the chair design, which they are famously associated with today. Each, height: 29 in x width: 30 1/2 in x depth: 26 in. Condition: There are no major breaks, losses, or repairs. Some scuffs and wear to the metal, especially along touch points and the undersides of the legs.
