Ito Shinsui ”The Eyebrow Pencil” Woodblock Print - Ito Shinsui (Japanese, 1898-1972). Woodblock print on paper titled ”Mayuzumi (The Eyebrow Pencil), ” 1928. Depicting an actress applying her makeup before going on stage against a deep red background. Provenance: From the Collection of Ellen and Frederick Wells. Sight; height: 11 1/2 in x width: 15 1/2 in. Fraemd; height: 16 1/2 in x width: 21 1/2 in x depth: 3/4 in. Condition: The sheet is toned. The margins are slightly uneven. Wear along the upper and right edges. The work is floated in frame on non-acidic mats. Framed under plexiglass; light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
