Kunisada ”Genke Hachidai...” Kabuki Print Triptych - Utagawa Kunisada/Toyokuni III (Japanese, 1786-1865). Woodblock print triptych depicting a scene from the play ”Genke Hachidai Megumi no Tsuwamono, ” ca. 1811-1832. Depicting the actors in their respective roles, from left to right: Sawamura Gennosuki (I, II, or III) as Sato Kadotsune, Segawa Kikunojo (IV or V) as Uji no Hashihime no ju (the goddess of lust), and Ichikawa Danjuro (VII or VIII) as Akugenda Yoshihira. (Seperated print) height: 15 in x width: 10 1/8 in. (Connected prints, total) height: 15 in x width: 20 in. Condition: The sheets are possibly trimmed and toned. Small losses throughout. Soiling throughout. Crease through the center of the connected works where they are joined. The works are not framed.
