Kunisada Giant Toad Monster Vertical Diptych 1857 - Utagawa Kunisada/Toyokuni III (Japanese, 1786-1865). Woodblock vertical diptych depicting figures fighting a giant toad monster, 1857. Depicting the actors Onoe Tamizo II, Ichikawa Ichizo III as Tenjiku Tokubei (actually Yoshinaka's son Dainichimaru), Arashi Kangoro I as Constable (Torite) Kango, and Nakamura Kantaro I as Constable (Torite) Kanta. From the kabuki play ”Irifune Soga Nihon no Torikaji” put on by the Morita theater. Published by Ebisuya Shoshichi. Each sheet, Height: 14 3/4 in x width: 10 1/8 in. Condition: The sheet is toned and possibly trimmed. Light wear along the edges. Light soiling throughout. The work is not framed.
