Large Leo Poblano Inlaid Shell Zuni Frog Fetish
Leo Poblano (Zuni, 1905-1959). Carved spiny oyster shell (spondylus) frog fetish with inlaid turquoise eyes, ca. 1950s. This piece is exceptionally large compared to Poblano’s other works.
Height: 1 1/4 in x width: 3 3/4 in x depth: 4 1/2 in.
Condition: Due to the porous nature of the material, it is difficult to discern whether it has been compromised. However, there are no major breaks. Along the interior, there is a hairline crack that extends approximately half of the length of the object. There is a possible loss to an applied element along the front left leg.
