Late 19th c. Sioux Beaded Hide Pictorial Vest - Northern Plains Indigenous Native American Sioux beadwork pictorial vest, late 19th to early 20th century. The leather hide and cloth garment depicting American flags and geometric motifs along the front and verso. Executed with red, white, blue, and green beads. Restored. Provenance: From the James Luongo Collection, New York; From the Sherman Holbert Collection; Private Minnesota Collection. Shoulder-to-shoulder: 13 in x length: 20 in x width: 18 in. Condition: The garment is stiff with age. There are small areas of missing beads throughout; some areas are fragile and beads easily come loose. It is possible that there may be some bead loss with shipping/handling. There is some discoloration and wear to the beads and garment consistent with age and use.
