19th c. Anishinaabe Ojibwe Beaded Hide Pad Saddle - Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) Native American hide pad saddle, ca. 1880-1890. With beadwork depicting vining floral motifs. Further adorned with beaded yarn tassels. Provenance: From the Sherman Holbert Collection; Private Minnesota Collection. Total length: 18 1/2 in x width (not including hanging elements): 13 in. Condition: The saddle has been restored. The leather is worn with age including some small holes, discoloration, and general wear. Minute areas of bead loss throughout. The beads are somewhat discolored and worn consistent with age. One of the large hanging elements has broken off along the corner and is included (see lot photographs). There may possibly be losses to the beaded tassels.
