Claude Michel Clodion Bacchanalian Bronze - Claude Michel Clodion (French, 1738-1814). Bronze sculpture titled ”Triumph of Bacchus, ” ca. early 19th century. Incised signature to the base. Known for his mastery of neo-classical and rococo styles, Clodion designed the ”Triumph of Bacchus” bronze group depicting the bacchanals, or sacred festivities, dedicated to the Roman god Bacchus. The bronze group features Bacchus alongside putti and a maenad, one of Bacchus' female followers. (Without base) height: 15 in x width: 10 in x depth: 7 in. Weight: 24 lbs 11 oz. Condition: There are no major losses or dents. Uneven patination throughout. Some dust/debris in the gathered areas. Some wear to the wooden base.
