Pair Attr. Barbedienne Empire Bronze Candelabras - Attributed to Ferdinand Barbedienne (French, 1810-1892). Pair of two patinated bronze seven-light candelabras, 19th-20th century. Of the Empire style. Featuring six curved foliate arms surmounted atop an urn column, modeled after a vase sculpted by Claude Michel Clodion (French, 1738-1814). The exterior depicting neoclassical figures in relief. Resting on a stepped pedestal. Incised ”F. Barbedienne” along the circular foot. The marble vase that the urn-form column is modeled after is held in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, 1987.55. (Each) height: 30 1/2 in x width: 11 in x depth: 11 1/2 in. Gross weight: 59 lbs 6 oz. Condition: There are no major breaks, dents, or losses. There are some faint scratches, primarily along the discs below the bobeches. Light tarnishing throughout. Light wear to the feet. Some dust gathered along the recessed areas. Some accretions along the interiors of the candlestick cups.
