19th c. Bronze ”Pudicity” Statue - Bronze statuette of ”Pudicity” after the ancient Roman original, ca. 19th century. The original statue, found on the grounds of Villa Mattei ca. 1575 and dated to the last century BCE to first century CE was highly celebrated as one of the great female portraits during the height of the Grand Tour in the 18th to 19th centuries. It is now in the collection of the Vatican. Height: 18 in x width: 7 in x depth: 6 1/2 in. Weight: 18 lbs 4 oz. Condition: There are no breaks, dents or scratches, losses, or signs of restoration. Light patination throughout. Light dust gathered along the recessed areas. Affixed to a marble base; light wear to the base. The underside of the marble base is lined with felt.
