Mid-19th c. Portrait Oil Painting - Oil on canvas portrait painting depicting a well-dressed gentleman. His clothing would suggest mid-19th century. Unframed; height: 30 in x width: 25 in. Framed; height: 32 in x width: 27 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: Inpainting throughout, especially along the margins. There is a thick varnish that covers the painting, but goes around the head and cravat. The painting has been relined. X-ray images reveal that the painting has been executed over another painting depicting a woman.
