Carl Gutherz Figure in Landscape Painting - Carl Gutherz (Swiss/American, 1844-1907). Oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a woman underneath a flowering tree, 1882. Signed and dated along the lower left. Provenance: Purchased from Mark Murray Fine Paintings, New York, 1992; Private Minnesota Collection. Unframed; height: 12 1/2 in x width: 20 in. Framed; height: 18 3/4 in x width: 26 3/4 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: The work has been striplined along the edges. Two patches along the verso and several minute holes, only noticeable under direct light when viewed from the verso. The patches correspond to areas of repair along the woman's skirt and along the upper center edge of the work. Light wear to the frame.
