Terry Kilburn Surrealist Figures Oil Painting - Terry Kilburn (English/American, b. 1926). Oil on canvas painting depicting two surrealist figures locked in an embrace. Initialed along the verso. Kilburn is best known for his iconic performances in ”Goodbye, Mr. Chips” (1939), ”A Christmas Carol” (1938), and ”Lolita” (1962). Provenance: from the estate of the artist. Height: 24 in x width: 18 in x depth: 3/4 in. Condition: The colors are bold and bright. There are no tears, losses, or signs of restoration. To the figures, there is light craquelure. Light soiling to the verso. Along the verso, there are two circular pieces of felt affixed along the upper stretcher bar. Light wear along the extreme edges of the canvas. The work is not framed.
