Nuveeya Ipellie Carved Stone Mammal Figure - Nuveeya Ipellie (Inuit (Frobisher Bay - Iqaluit), 1920-2010). Carved soap stone figure depicting a mammal bearing its teeth, ca. 1973. With inlaid eyes and carved organic material teeth. Provenance: Heard Museum, Arizona; Private Collection, New York. Height: 6 in x width: 4 in x depth: 4 1/4 in. Condition: There are no major losses. There is some discoloration to the adhesive used to apply the lower row of teeth, possibly original to the artistic process. Some wear along the lower edge of the walrus, where it is affixed to the stone base. Light wear to the rotating stand.
