Inupiaq or Yupik Nome Snow Goggles ca. 1930s - Inupiaq or Yupik carved organic material snow goggles, Nome, ca. 1930s. With long, central horizontal eye opening and two holes for strap. Provenance: Purchased from the Alaska General Store, Anchorage, Alaska, 1987; Private Minnesota Collection. Height: 2 in x width: 6 1/2 in x depth: 3/4 in. Condition: There are no breaks to the wood. There are two areas along the pierced holes with residual adhesive accretions, likely from a past failed repair. The goggles lack a strap.
