Pr Plains Native American Beaded Boot Moccasins - Pair of Southern Plains Native American beaded girl's or woman's high-top boot moccasins, ca. late 19th century. Possibly Kiowa or Tsitsistas/Suhtai (Cheyenne). The leggings of sinew-sewn hide construction decorated with narrow banded beadwork panels along the shins and ankles. The thread-sewn beadwork depicting repeating triangular motifs executed in turquoise-blue and magenta beads. Accented by leather fringe threaded with painted beads. Ink numbered ”135” and ”135A” along the collar. (Each) Height: 14 1/2 in x width: 2 1/2 in x depth: 7 1/2 in. Condition: Wear throughout commensurate with age. There are scattered losses to the beadwork and some breaks to the stitching. Some brittleness to the leather. There is a patched repair along the shin of one boot; along the other boot, there is a taped repair to the stitching of the shin flap. Wear to the soles.
