19th c. Burmese Yun Lacquer Betel Box Container - Large Burmese yun-de red lacquerware betel box container, 19th century. Of cylindrical form, the interior with two trays. The exterior depicting geometric and stylized floral motifs throughout. The lid with finely executed concentric circles surrounding a central medallion depicting a dancer or deity. Provenance: From the Distinguished Personal Collection of Dr. Robert Jacobsen. Height: 7 in x diameter 7 in. Condition: General wear throughout consistent with age and use including some chips, craquelure, and flaking to the lacquer. Some accretions and areas or soiling, primarily along the interior. There are a few small losses to the lacquer, primarily along the top lid. Wear to the footrim.
